ADHD symptoms can often go unnoticed, until they get more severe.

ADHD in adults is highly underreported. People believe that children “outgrow” their ADHD symptoms, however, 85% of children diagnosed with ADHD will have the disorder as adults. The first step towards reaching your highest potential is to get yourself tested, especially when you’re not sure.

ADHD is a medical diagnosis

20 percent of children currently identified as having ADHD likely have been misdiagnosed. A correct examination and diagnosis is of paramount importance to ensure that the adult does not get treated for something they do not have.

Males are 3 times more at risk than females.

Scientific studies have shown that ADHD is heritable. Early diagnosis and treatment can make a huge difference. The sooner the better.

Our Assessment Process

ADHD cannot be diagnosed by an x-ray or blood test. It is determined by a certain collection of symptoms which must have started in childhood. The first step in our process is a phone interview during which a complete history is compiled, to include: family history, medical history, academic history, social history and employment history. From this information, it is revealed whether symptoms began before the age of 12 years. Self-rating scales are emailed to the client and returned to be interpreted.
If ADHD appears to be the case, further examination is done via additional self-rating scales that indicate the severity of the symptoms and their impact on the client’s lifestyle. The type of ADHD is diagnosed from these indicators and this information is given to the client in a formal report. This report can be taken to your primary care physician to discuss the need for medication, if that is your interest. Several resources are suggested in the report as well.

Telling themselves that they need to try harder or they need to establish a system. It can be a relief to find out that it is not an inadequacy of their capabilities, but rather a common disorder that many people cope with everyday and very successfully.
